Part Time Firefighters

Firefighters are employed on a part time basis and are limited to the amount of hours they can work in a 28 day work cycle. The district currently offers two work schedules to help keep companies working with the same personnel.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Applicant must be 18 years old
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED
  • Equivalency Diploma
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Basic Operation Firefighter Certification
  • Emergency Medical Technician- Basic
  • Work a minimum of 96 hours a month
  • Passing of a medical and physical evaluation provided by the fire district

  • 3 Day Orientation

Cadet Program

The fire district implements a Cadet Program to help fill part time positions. Cadets are trained to the level of Basic Operations Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician- Basic through in house hands on training and sponsorship for courses. The program usualy takes about a year to complete depending on how much course work is completed prior to hiring. Once all part time requirements are met, the individual is then elgible for part time employment and graduates from the cadet program. Individuals are able to gain field experience working part time while continuing their education and eventually going on to medic school.

Emergency Vehicle Technician

The Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District will be hiring an Emergency Vehicle Technician Level III. The position will work 40 hours a week with the possibility of some emergency call outs. The Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District staffs three stations with diesel generators and a fleet of 19 vehicles, UTV, and two boats.

The Emergency Vehicle Technician position requires excellent interpersonal relationship skills, effective communication skills, ability to work independent, and the ability to work well with teams and supervisors. The ideal candidate will have a highly productive work ethic and be extremely organized.
